Pickleball UK uses traditional (side-out) scoring, meaning points can only be won by the serving team. Matches are usually played to 11 or 15 points, and a 2-point lead is normally required to win.
 
In doubles, each player on the serving team gets a turn to serve, giving two serves per team—except at the start of the game, when the first serving team has only one serve. The server announces the score before each serve, calling their team’s score, the opponents’ score, and the server number (1 or 2). This helps maintain clarity and keep the game flowing.

Sudden death means the next point wins the game. For example, in a game to 11 points, if the score reaches 10–10, the next point scored will decide the match. The usual serving rules still apply—you must be serving to win the point.

For games played to 11 points, players change ends when the first team reaches 6 points.

For games played to 15 points, players change ends when the first team reaches 8 points.

You will receive an email approximately 6 days before the event with arrival times and venue information.

A second email will be sent around 3 days before the event containing the draw and your full match schedule.

We finalise draws as late as possible to accommodate any withdrawals or replacements.

Yes. You can change your partner at any time up to the start of the event. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can update the draw accordingly.
Yes. Players may enter up to two events per day, typically gender doubles and mixed doubles. If a tournament runs over two days, you may also enter up to two events on the second day, provided you qualify.
You may enter an age-restricted category if you turn that age at any point during the calendar year of the tournament. For example, if you turn 50 later in the year, you may still enter a 50+ event earlier in that same year.
Yes. All match scores are uploaded to DUPR. We aim to upload results as quickly as possible—often on the day of the event, but always by the end of the tournament week.
Occasionally, yes. Referees are present to assist, educate players where needed, and help ensure matches run smoothly.
The ball used depends on the playing surface:
  • Acrylic courts: Franklin X-40
  • Wooden courts: Gamma Photon Indoor Ball
The specific ball used will always be confirmed in the individual tournament information.
The Open Age category is open to players of any age. There are no age restrictions, meaning anyone can enter — from junior players through to players in their 80s and beyond. This category is based on skill level rather than age, allowing players of different generations to compete together in a fun and competitive environment.

No, you can enter wanting a partner and we will do our best to find you one. If we don’t find you one, we will issue you a full refund. If you enter requiring a partner, then find one in the meantime, that is fine, we can pair you
